Tollo is much more than simply the name of a winery. In fact, Tollo is the name of a small village located in Abruzzo, in the province of Chieti, a couple of kilometers far from the Adriatic Sea. Cantina Tollo is also the name of the local coop winery. Over the years, Cantina Tollo has developed into a key feature of the local environment, both from the economical and the social point of view, becoming a source of income for many, thus preventing locals – and especially youngsters – to move elsewhere.
Over the years the winery has grown, and from the original winery four different companies have developed: Cantina Tollo, Feudo Antico, Auramadre and Borgo Venna. Cantina Tollo represents the holding, with vineyards stretching in Abruzzo and nearby Molise and Puglia. Feudo Antico is distributed solely on the on-trade channel and focuses instead only on Tullum Docg, the local appellation – established in 2008 and elevated to Docg in 2019 – aimed at promoting local varieties such as Passerina, Pecorino, Montepulciano. Established in 2019 with a surface of 200 hectares, Auramadre is the special project promoting organic viticulture and wine. Finally, Borgo Venna, the newborn company, for the offer of everyday products.
