About

Website https://www.masciarelli.it

Talking about Masciarelli means telling a piece of the history of Italian winemaking. The company was founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli, a charismatic figure, a pioneer of the rebirth of viticulture in Abruzzo and of the new national wine scene, who succeeded in making the two most significant grape varieties in the region, Trebbiano and Montepulciano, world-famous excellences. Combining rural tradition with the enhancement of native vines, Masciarelli has shown how local values can reach the world through wine. In just a few years, Masciarelli has achieved international success and is now one of the 100 great Italian wineries. With more than 60 plots of vineyards between sea and mountains in the 4 provinces of Abruzzo and a highly specialized staff, the company produces 2,5 million bottles per year, ranging from everyday wines to fine premium labels and super-limited editions. The beating heart of the company is San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the province of Chieti, where the main winery is located, and can be visited every day by appointment. But the full Masciarelli experience is lived at the Castello di Semivicoli: a 17th century baronial palace, purchased and transformed by the Masciarelli family into a wine resort, rich in history and charm, an unrivaled point of reference for winetourism in the region
