The story of Christophe SEMASKA is linked to the rebirth in 1988 of a great Côte Rôtie domain: LE CHÂTEAU DE MONTLYS, a jewel preserved by the Revolution of 1789. Christophe SEMASKA was not destined to be a winemaker, but his passion for great wines and their history led him to the Château de Montlys in St Cyr sur le Rhône. This 16th century property, situated on a hillside facing the Rhône. A privileged site for growing CÔTE RÔTIE vines. The appellation is made up of numerous specific terroirs, characterised by a multitude of plots of land: "Lieux-dits cadastrés". The Château de Montlys, the largest estate in Côte Rôtie, surrounded by 10 hectares of terraced hillsides, produced its last vintage before the vineyard disappeared following the Great War of 1914/1918 and the phylloxera crisis. In 1988, 1ha38 of vines were replanted on a rested terroir. During all these years we have also developed other appellations such as CONDRIEU, ST JOSEPH, COTEAUX DE VIENNE and CÔTES DU RHÔNE to exploit today 15 ha. In order to satisfy his customers and to preserve the environment, Christophe SEMASKA has started his organic conversion in order to limit his impact on biodiversity as much as possible. To ensure that the story of love and passion for his land continues, brighter than ever, Christophe SEMASKA puts all his know-how and intuition into the details to approach excellence.
