Pago de Tharsys is a beautiful winery surrounded by 14 hectares of ECOLOGICAL VINEYARD, located in Requena, 70 km from Valencia, at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level.
The winery dates back to 1808, and from that distant time, it retains its UNDERGROUND CELLAR, excavated in the large CALCAREOUS bedrock on which our entire vineyard rests. This unique feature is what makes the wines and cavas we produce exceptional.
Our motto, "Unique by nature," reflects our commitment to SUSTAINABILITY and respect for the NATURAL ENVIRONMENT in which our wines are born, making them one-of-a-kind. We cultivate the vineyard following the principles of ECOLOGICAL VITICULTURE, use solar energy, recycle materials and waste, protect native flora and fauna, promote local labor, and actively collaborate with local artisans and producers.
Our SOIL, primarily calcareous and resting on a large CALCAREOUS bedrock formed more than 30 million years ago by the sedimentation of calcium carbonates dissolved in the fresh water that, during the MIOCENE, formed a lagoon in this area. This soil greatly influences the characteristics of our wines: FRESH, AROMATIC, ELEGANT, and LONG-LASTING.
Our MICROCLIMATE: The trees and lake surrounding the area create a microclimate that moderates temperature and humidity both in winter and summer, allowing the vines to develop differently and yield healthy, ripe fruit that retains ACIDITY and FRESHNESS without the need for excessive treatments on the vineyard.
